Smith Family Reunion

I swore it would never happen but it has- I am terrible at remembering to take pictures. I guess it might be better to live life through your own eyes rather than a camera lens. But I still wish I had more pictures. So I am borrowing a bunch of pictures from Corissa (my SIL) via facebook to fill in some gaps.

Anyway, we went to the annual Smith family reunion last weekend. This year it was in Winthrop. What's in Winthrop? Not much. There was a decent amount of things to do however. The little town is western themed and it was fun to walk the shops on a rainy first day.
Yee Haw.
Sterling thought this was funny.

On the second day we went on a little walk to a suspension bridge. This is where I took most of the few pictures of the trip.
Monkey family.Dad and the boy.Mesha LOVES rocks and spent most of her time throwing them.A little monkey girl.

On the third day we went to see the sights on top of Sun Mountain Lodge.
The Graig Smith Family (left to right: Tyler, Casey, Corissa, Spencer, Graig, Martha, Nancy, John, Jared, Griffin, Kierstin, Sterling, and Mesha). We are missing 3. Hilary and Andrew are on missions and Jacob is lame! Just kidding- we miss you!The Sterling Smith Family.

We had a last hurrah at the lake before we drove our tired behinds home. I'll tell ya, the drive to and from Winthrop was almost as good as the trip itself. Highway 20 all the way!I've never seen rivers and lakes that blue-green color before! Sorry no pictures, like I said, I'm lame.

We had a lot of fun. It was good to see some family that we don't get to see very often.

Ferry Ride

This weekend we took the kids on their first Ferry Ride. As usual we went with our cousins (we love them so much!) and also a handful of aunts and uncles.

My pretty Mesha.

My handsome Griffin.

The Mom and the Dad.

The Smith family.

Me and (some of) my sisters- Me, Laura, Mindy, and Katie.

Same gang plus my brother Dale (Julia and half of Cam snuck in too!). Sorry Lu for the hair in your face picture, if it's any consolation I have my eyes half closed.

I know I say it a lot but it's my blog so I will say it again, I LOVE this state! It's so gorgeous! Even on an overcast day I recommend it.

Ocean Shores

Since it has been so hot we planned to go the beach with our cousins. The beach turned out to be a tad colder than home. OK a lot colder. But it was still fun. We pretty much stayed out of the water. It was frigid.

Mesha liked to destroy the sand castles everyone else took so much time making.

We found the the sand dunes to be some relief from the cold. The sand was warm and the dunes blocked some of the wind.

Mr. Tiger.

Little Griff.

Mesha the curious.

The gang.

Heat Wave

We had quite the heat wave here last week. We broke all kinds of records and the peak of the heat measured 106 degrees. That's hot. AC is not common around here (there is usually only one week in August you might want it) so we were sweating it out. The stores sold out of fans, AC units, and kiddie pools. This is how we tried to stay cool.

We went to the lake! Some shade and a breeze goes a long way!

"Grandpa" Earl (our cousin's other grandpa) took us out on his boat. It was great fun. I tried to water ski. No luck.

We spent most of the time naked. I was just too dang hot to wear anything.

We spent lots of time out on the porch swing.

We are back to normal temperatures where humans can thrive. It was real, it was not fun, and it was definitely not real fun.
