Mesha is 6!

Mesha turned 6 yesterday!  She wanted a My Little Pony party (again).  We opened presents in the wee hours of the morning before school.

I got to take cup cakes into Mesha's class for snack time.  It was cute to see her in her element.  Also I now know how she got to be so sassy lately!  The kids she sits next to has some mouth.  Can you say brat?

For Mesha's birthday dinner she chose to go to Ci Ci's Pizza.  We ate pony cake when we got home.

I can't believe I am old enough to have a 6 year old.  But I think this concept will continue to surprise me over the years.  I have heard from other mothers that there is always a special bond with your oldest.  I feel it true in my case.  I think it comes from learning as I go and Mesha being patient and willing to forgive me.  Here are some Mesha at 6 facts for the record.

~Mesha loves animals.  Her favorites include horses, cats, birds, dolphins, etc.
~Mesha is sassy, cuddly, and dramatic all at once.  It can be exhausting.
~Mesha is a great artist.
~Mesha is afraid to be alone, even in a different room of the house than the adults.
~Mesha can read and write and count to 100.
~Mesha has the sweatiest feet and hands I've ever know.
~Mesha is a great big sister.  She is kind and plays with both of her younger siblings.
~Mesha says that she doesn't like parents and the she loves me soooo much every day (like I said, dramatic!)

I don't think I really understood love or sacrifice until I had Mesha.  I know that sounds corny but I think most parents out there know what I mean.  I'm so lucky to have my Mesha.

Married

Mesha and Griffin have been playing "Married" a lot lately.  When Mesha goes to school, Griffin has to find the next best thing to marry.
Griffin even has a ring (a black bat ring, the only kind he said was suitable for a boy).  Cute stuff.

How Do They Know?

How do kids know when you are so busy you couldn't stop them if you wanted to?  Anya did this while I had a hot pan of oil that needed my full attention.
Little stinker.

Griffin is 4!!!

Our big boy turned 4!  He wanted an Angry Bird birthday like Mesha had last year for her 5th.

I did frosting instead of fondant this time and it was SOOO much easier.
Batman and his cake.
The party set up the night before.  If I have learned one thing over the years it is to take pictures before the kids get a chance to touch anything!
Opening presents.
The party theme was Angry Birds but the presents were practically all BATMAN!
What a big boy!

 Griffin at age 4:
~Loves Batman and dresses up like him everyday.  He also dresses up as Puss in Boots often.
~Is an early bird and a terrible sleeper at night (he wants to sleep by Sterling at all times!)
~Is a great singer!  He memorizes lyrics well and is on key more than anyone else in the family!
~Loves to say the prayer and gets mad when it's not his turn (and then will say his own DURING your prayer).
~Loves his big sister the most.  I guess Anya will be a better friend later in life...
~Still loves to be naked whenever possible.  Naked in a pile of blankets is best.
~Still loves to build train tracks.
~Thinks that the lyrics to "I Am A Child of God" say "Help me to understand cheese words".
~Says that everything we put in front of him at the dinner is "Gross" but ends up eating (and liking) it anyway.

We love our Griffin, Happy Birthday big boy!

What the Hey?

Yesterday it was a little unseasonably warm at 60 degrees.

Today this:

What?

But it is not so bad.  I know that it will be gone tomorrow (it is supposed to be in the 50's) and spring is right around the corner here in Charlotte (Speaking of Charlotte- the storm that is, can I tell you how glad I am I'm not in Connecticut right now?  Sorry CT friends, but I do not miss New England winters...).  It was fun to get all dressed up for a few minutes of snow play after dinner and to not have to do it again probably until next year.

Nursery!

Anya went to nursery for the first time yesterday.  Hooray!!!  She and I have been WAITING for this day.  She had a few weepy moments but the teachers never had to bring her to me.  I got to listen to the lessons for this first time in a long time.  What a good sweet girl!

Ours

Emma the cat is officially ours.  The couple we were cat sitting for decided they didn't want the fur in their new apartment so she is permanently ours!  The kids are ecstatic, I'm happy and no matter what Sterling tells you, he likes her too.
