Griffin is 4!!!

Our big boy turned 4!  He wanted an Angry Bird birthday like Mesha had last year for her 5th.

I did frosting instead of fondant this time and it was SOOO much easier.
Batman and his cake.
The party set up the night before.  If I have learned one thing over the years it is to take pictures before the kids get a chance to touch anything!
Opening presents.
The party theme was Angry Birds but the presents were practically all BATMAN!
What a big boy!

 Griffin at age 4:
~Loves Batman and dresses up like him everyday.  He also dresses up as Puss in Boots often.
~Is an early bird and a terrible sleeper at night (he wants to sleep by Sterling at all times!)
~Is a great singer!  He memorizes lyrics well and is on key more than anyone else in the family!
~Loves to say the prayer and gets mad when it's not his turn (and then will say his own DURING your prayer).
~Loves his big sister the most.  I guess Anya will be a better friend later in life...
~Still loves to be naked whenever possible.  Naked in a pile of blankets is best.
~Still loves to build train tracks.
~Thinks that the lyrics to "I Am A Child of God" say "Help me to understand cheese words".
~Says that everything we put in front of him at the dinner is "Gross" but ends up eating (and liking) it anyway.

We love our Griffin, Happy Birthday big boy!

What the Hey?

Yesterday it was a little unseasonably warm at 60 degrees.

Today this:

What?

But it is not so bad.  I know that it will be gone tomorrow (it is supposed to be in the 50's) and spring is right around the corner here in Charlotte (Speaking of Charlotte- the storm that is, can I tell you how glad I am I'm not in Connecticut right now?  Sorry CT friends, but I do not miss New England winters...).  It was fun to get all dressed up for a few minutes of snow play after dinner and to not have to do it again probably until next year.

Nursery!

Anya went to nursery for the first time yesterday.  Hooray!!!  She and I have been WAITING for this day.  She had a few weepy moments but the teachers never had to bring her to me.  I got to listen to the lessons for this first time in a long time.  What a good sweet girl!

Ours

Emma the cat is officially ours.  The couple we were cat sitting for decided they didn't want the fur in their new apartment so she is permanently ours!  The kids are ecstatic, I'm happy and no matter what Sterling tells you, he likes her too.

Zoo

It was really warm here over the weekend (mid to high 70's, I love the south...) so we took the opportunity to go to the zoo in Columbia, SC.
Kangaroo
A sad Mesha and the elephants.
Daddy and the boy.
Mesha was so excited to take a picture of this baby giraffe for Aunt Laura.
They girls and an ostrich.
Monkeys
Griffin at the penguin exhibit trying hard to lay some eggs.
It was a fun warm day and now I have spring fever.  I'm glad that I only have to wait till March for good go-outside weather.  North Carolina rocks.

Christmas 2012

We had a great Christmas. Each year is better and better with the kids getting a little older and being more excited.  All three loved their presents, go me!  Mesha keeps asking me when it is supposed to snow...  Sorry love.
Our Christmas Eve nativity dress up.
I was taking my Christmas nap when this occurred...
Mesha and her gifts.
Griff and his gifts.
Anya and her gifts.
Merry Christmas!

Pomegranate

Back in November Griffin and Mesha both thought it would be funny to put a pomegranate seed up their noses (Later Mesha told me she did it because she thought it might be good for "The Funny Show" meaning she wants to be on AFV).  Mesha got hers out, Griffin did not.  Is Griffin the only almost-4-year-old that can't blow his nose worth beans?  After a lot of trying on our own with tips from the nurse help line we took him into the ER.  The ER tried to get it out but was unsuccessful.  Onto the EENT the next morning.  The doctor took one look up his nose and said we would have to put him under to get it out.  The next morning EARLY in the morning I took him to an out patient surgery center to knock him out and get the seed out.
Griffin ready for "surgery" with the little panda they gave him.  We named him Black Nose :)
Ready and waiting for the sleepy juice.
We were in the bay on the end and Griffin was playing peek-a-boo with all the doctors and nurses walking by.

Top right: What it should look like, Top left: What it looked like, Bottom left: The offending seed, Bottom right: After removal.
This might be funny in a few years or so but for now the medical bills are still coming in and it makes me want to ban small nostril sized objects from our house forever (goodbye corn, see ya later peas...). Griffin, Griffin, Griffin...
